2009 Student Waiter of the Year Competition

The Catering Institute of Australia (WA) is pleased to announce the 2009 Student Waiter of the Year Competition. This competition has long been regarded as the leading annual event to showcase the skills of upcoming professional waitpersons. It also showcases the educational establishments training the students.
The competition attracts acclaimed industry leaders as judges. The winner will receive an invitation and special recognition at The Catering Institute of Australia (WA) prestigious Gold Plate Award Dinner which is attended by over 1,200 industry guests. The competition places emphasis on current restaurant service trends whilst retaining many of the traditional serving skills. Entrants will be judged on their table preparation for service, service of food during the luncheon including Silver Service, Wine Service and some limited table cooking.
The competition will commence at 8.30am with a written theory test, followed by the practical section of the competition which involves serving a table of 4 guests for lunch. The cost of Entry is $250.00 which includes lunch (full food & service) for 4 guests. Students who are currently studying the operational skills and the services of a Waitperson are encouraged to enter the Competition.
